Australian Warning System (AWS)

It’s always beneficial to review and refresh our knowledge about the signs of different disaster events and the appropriate responses. Whether it’s a bushfire, flood, or storm, being prepared can make all the difference. What are some ways you keep this important information fresh in your mind? 😊

Depending on where you live in Australia, you might already be familiar with the Australian Warning System (AWS).
It’s a set of standardised, colour-coded symbols that state emergency services use to communicate warnings and instructions during emergencies like fire, flood, storm, extreme heat and severe weather.
All Australian states and territories are working towards using the same national warning system.
